Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Equipment Technician 1, Facility Services - North Palm Beach / Brevard

As an Equipment Technician I, you'll play a key role in supporting Deli equipment that keeps our stores running efficiently and serving millions of customers each year. Working alongside experienced Equipment Technician II associates, you'll gain hands-on technical experience maintaining production equipment in our Bakery, Produce, Meat, and Deli departments while supporting new store openings and remodel projects throughout Publix's growing footprint.
In addition to performing preventative maintenance and equipment assessments, you'll coordinate parts deliveries and pickups, conduct store walk-through inspections, and partner with internal teams and vendors to initiate and manage work orders for equipment repairs. Additional responsibilities include:
- Evaluating, scheduling and completing Preventative Maintenance (PM) work orders on assigned Retail equipment
- Visiting stores on a scheduled basis
- Assessing equipment to prevent production time loss
- Coordinating with the warehouse team to schedule delivery or pickup of new or used equipment
- Providing support and training with the Equipment Technician II to develop skills and knowledge to be qualified for a future opportunity
- Housekeeping, which includes vehicle inventory and cleaning, credit card statements and other paperwork associated with this position
- Providing support during planned activities for new and remodel stores
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of experience in using basic mechanical/electrical skills, including diagnosing, light troubleshooting and minor repairs on all equipment being serviced
- Valid driver's license and excellent driving record
- At least 20 years old
- Ability to communicate both verbal and written
- Ability to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
- Basic knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems such as SAP
- Basic time management skills
- Basic knowledge in food safety
- Knowledge of electrical principles
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Willingness to travel to stores throughout the retail division, including nights, weekends and overnight stays as required
- Willingness to be available on call 24/7 when an emergency arises
- Degree in electrical motor control repairs from an Industrial Mechanical Trade school
- 2 years' experience with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and diagnosis
- Knowledge of construction drawings and Bakery, Deli, and Meat production equipment specifications
- Knowledge of trades including electrical, plumbing, brazing, mechanical and gas.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
- Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
- Intermediate knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems (SAP)
