The Parts Counter Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Melrose Park, IL. This team member assists customers and internal technicians at the parts counter by identifying, sourcing, and providing the correct parts for terminal tractors and related equipment. Daily responsibilities include answering customer inquiries in person and by phone, creating parts orders and invoices, coordinating shipping and receiving of parts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
The role also involves organizing stock, restocking shelves, verifying deliveries, and supporting the sales team with parts quotes and product information. The Parts Counter Representative works closely with service staff and management to ensure timely parts availability, efficient workflow, and a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Candidates should possess strong Customer Service and Communication skills to support internal teams and external customers professionally and efficiently.
- Candidates should possess experience in Shipping & Receiving to manage incoming and outgoing parts orders, verify deliveries, and handle logistics documentation.
- Candidates should possess Inventory Control skills to track stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and maintain accurate records in inventory systems.
- Candidates should possess Sales skills to prepare parts quotes, suggest appropriate products, and support revenue growth at the parts counter.
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck components, including engine, drivetrain, suspension, brake, steering, electrical, and air systems.
- Ability to use computer-based inventory, POS, and order management systems; proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets) is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced service environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or parts-related training is a plus.
- Understanding of warranty processing and core return procedures.
