Position: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Melrose Park, IL

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an engaging educational environment. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year and is ideally suited for a specialist or teacher with expertise in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education. As a key partner in student growth, your ability to foster accessible learning and advocate for communication needs will shape student success.

Qualifications:
  • Valid state certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
  • Comprehensive understanding of language development for DHH students
  • Experience utilizing assistive listening devices and interpreting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Flexibility to travel between locations as required
  • Previous experience in a school-based setting is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in individual and group settings
  • Develop, implement, and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse communication preferences and learning needs
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, providing insights and recommendations for best practices
  • Offer ongoing training and guidance to general educators and staff regarding DHH accommodations and instructional strategies
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates each students strengths
  • Provide consultation and outreach to families, ensuring a strong home-school partnership
