What we need

As a Lead Cell Operator, you will be responsible for system upkeep and operations of automated adapters used to interface with the Symbotic structure. You will assist with system readiness to achieve performance targets as defined by leadership and you will utilize Human/Machine Interface terminals to effectively operate equipment.

What we do

The Lead Cell Operator is part of the Customer Operations organization which is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. The Customer Operations organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with our onsite customers to drive best-in-class quality, safety and system performance.

What you’ll do
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety commitments daily.
  • Perform pre‑production checks on automated adapters to ensure equipment is ready to run.
  • Process and monitor the flow of the automated storage and retrieval system through adapters, including manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound, to achieve maximum throughput and cases per hour.
  • Prepare pallets for induction into the Symbotic storage and retrieval system.
  • Assess the cause of system stoppage and return to service using Human/Machine Interface (HMI) and manual intervention.
  • Assist other team members in system troubleshooting.
  • Analyze recurring faults and determine best corrective action.
  • Communicate and elevate all issues impacting production immediately to operational leadership.
  • Contribute to overall system uptime through preservation, robot recovery, suspect removal, and bot health actions.
  • Make recommendations for process and continuous improvement.
  • Perform periodic system inspections—including cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, and component validation.
  • Report all out‑of‑spec conditions and perform root‑cause corrective action.
  • Maintain continuous operation of system components.
  • Monitor and utilize common radio etiquette while receiving instructions from leadership and operational leads.
  • Perform rover bot upkeep, including replacing wheels, cleaning, ESD brushes, sensors, etc.
  • Recover automated robotic vehicles in the Symbotic Matrix select system, including work in restrictive environments.
  • Assist Automation technicians with breakdown calls and continuous system availability.
  • Perform basic duties of Automation Technicians as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Proficient in performing all system inspection functions—cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, current measurements, and checking electrical systems.
  • Demonstrates commitment and ability to work safely.

  • Prioritizes work to achieve maximum uptime and throughput from an automated cell.

  • Takes critical feedback and recognition positively.
  • Is literate, written and verbal, in English.
Our Environment

The work environment includes steep stairs, high railings, and restrictive areas. Employees may work at heights up to 45ft and within spaces as narrow as 24in. Temperature can range from 105°F to 32°F. Proper PPE—hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots, eye protection, hearing protection, fall protection—is mandatory on construction sites. Employees must be able to lift up to 50lbs and move items up to 80lbs, and stand, walk, and reach for 10–12hours daily.

Compensation

The base hourly pay range is $25.00 – $26.00. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
