Robotics, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Maintenance Technician supports operations in a high-tech automated warehouse environment by maintaining and troubleshooting robotic forklifts, palletizing arms, conveyor systems, and racking infrastructure. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, the ability to work with automation technologies, and comfort in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting.
This role operates on a 3rd shift schedule, typically 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, within a large automated distribution center. The facility features extensive automated racking systems, multiple robotic arm cells in inbound and outbound operations, and a fleet of mobile robots that retrieve products from high-bay storage. Some racking reaches heights of up to 45 feet, and certain work areas may be restrictive, with clearances of about 24 inches.
The environment provides protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes, and you must be able to work in conditions ranging from approximately 32° to 105° Fahrenheit while navigating around active automation and robotics systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic forklifts, palletizing arms, conveyors, and racking systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC‑related issues across automated systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Monitor system performance in real time and respond promptly to alerts, alarms, or faults to keep operations running smoothly.
- Collaborate with remote support and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement best practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and system updates for tracking and compliance purposes.
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and new equipment installations as needed to enhance warehouse automation capabilities.
- Follow and promote all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and operational standards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use computers, touchscreens, and mobile devices to access documentation, work orders, diagnostic tools, and communication platforms.
- Apply strong problem‑solving skills to identify issues, propose corrective actions, and continuously improve maintenance processes.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and consistent work habits to support 24/7 automated operations.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing experience in a mechanic, auto mechanic, or entry‑level maintenance role.
- Hands‑on experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical skills related to automation, production equipment, machine operation, and repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC‑related issues on automated systems.
- Proficiency using touchscreens, computers, and mobile phones to operate equipment and document work.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and communicate clear ideas for resolution.
- Demonstrated consistent attendance and reliable work history.
- Ability to work safely around automated machinery, robotics, and high‑bay racking systems.
- Capability to work in temperature ranges from 32° to 105° Fahrenheit and in restrictive areas with limited space.
