We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Janitor/Building Engineer to support our growing outpatient behavioral health facility. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and fully operational environment for clients, families, visitors, and staff.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has strong maintenance and custodial skills, and understands the importance of creating a professional and therapeutic treatment setting.
What You'll Do Facility Cleaning & Sanitation- Clean and sanitize counseling offices, group rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, and common spaces
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers
- Restock restroom and kitchen supplies
- Ensure all facility areas meet cleanliness and infection-control standards
- Maintain cleanliness of entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas
- Perform routine facility inspections
- Complete minor repairs including:
- Plumbing fixes
- Light bulb replacement
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Door and lock adjustments
- Painting and touch-up work
- Monitor HVAC and building systems
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities
- Coordinate with contractors and service vendors when necessary
- Conduct routine safety checks
- Ensure emergency exits remain clear and accessible
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities and fire drills
- Report safety concerns and maintenance issues promptly
- Support compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and behavioral health licensing requirements
- Maintain facility grounds and parking areas
- Remove snow, ice, leaves, and debris from walkways
- Monitor exterior lighting and building appearance
- Set up rooms for groups, trainings, and meetings
- Assist with furniture and equipment relocation
- Support facility improvement projects and inspections
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Two or more years of janitorial, maintenance, or building engineering experience
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human service settings
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems
- Familiarity with OSHA and workplace safety practices
