Job Description & How to Apply Below

SpaceXAI’s mission is to create AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. Our team is small, highly motivated, and focused on engineering excellence. This organization is for individuals who appreciate challenging themselves and thrive on curiosity. We operate with a flat organizational structure. All employees are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company’s mission.

Leadership is given to those who show initiative and consistently deliver excellence. Work ethic and strong prioritization skills are important. All employees are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

SpaceXAI is building and operating one of the world’s largest AI training campuses in Memphis, including Colossus and site facilities that support it. As a Facilities Supervisor, you will lead a team of technicians and specialist for an assigned area of that campus—office and support buildings, site infrastructure, and grounds.

Your leadership keeps work orders moving, preventive maintenance on schedule, and building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general repair) in working order. Depending on assignment, you may also own soft services such as trash, landscaping, and pest control. This is hands-on front-line leadership for facilities maintenance. Your time will be spent between being on the floor with technicians, vendors, and tickets—closing work, removing blockers, and holding an exceptional standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead a high-performing team handling facilities maintenance for an assigned campus area—including general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and (where assigned) janitorial, landscaping, waste, and pest control—to deliver reliable service with minimal disruption to occupied buildings and site operations.
  • Own day-to-day work orders and preventive maintenance: prioritize tickets, staff the work, inspect quality, and drive closeout.
  • Manage third-party vendors (e.g., janitorial, landscaping, pest control, repair contractors) to enforce corporate standards, optimize contracts, and maintain service levels.
  • Oversee maintenance, repairs, and installations across assigned buildings and grounds—offices, support facilities, and site infrastructure.
  • Design and execute a proactive preventive maintenance program for assigned assets, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
  • Monitor small construction and site-improvement work to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with zero impact to ongoing operations.
  • Coach, develop, and hold a team of maintenance technicians to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Prioritize tasks dynamically in a fast-paced environment, eliminate blockers, and drive continuous improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with facilities maintenance or facilities management.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project.
PREFERRED

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Proven vendor management skills, with a track record of holding contractors to scope, cost, and quality.
  • Expertise with work-order / asset management software and building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail, relentless focus on cleanliness and standards, and ability to thrive independently in dynamic, deadline-driven settings.
  • Hands-on background as a technician or tradesperson (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or general maintenance) before moving into leadership.
  • Innovative problem-solver who anticipates needs and drives efficiency in high-volume, 24/7 environments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Based at the Memphis, TN campus.
  • Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies and critical facility issues.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and non-standard schedules as required.
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees as required by the work.
