Position: Surface Prep Technician (2nd shift, Mon-Fri)

JOB SUMMARY

The entry level Surface Prep Technician supports the thermal spray technicians by preparing parts for dimensional restoration. Technicians will apply various types of masking to components for in‑process operations.

As a member of the thermal spray and surface prep team you will conduct pre and post‑application tasks on turbine engine parts for subsequent dimensional restoration operations while learning more about thermal spray theory and application.

Through our extensive in‑house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer‑based and hands‑on training, the necessary skills of the position.

This position performs its duties in a modern climate‑controlled facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Through our extensive in‑house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer‑based and hands‑on training, the necessary skills of the position.

  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize components staged in your department to support a more efficient schedule.
  • Review router and operational sketches to identify the work to be performed.
  • Gather and set up required tooling such as fixtures, gauges, and other items.
  • Mask components as required to protect surfaces from subsequent operations.
  • Trim masking using knives, razor blades, or other sharp tools. Trim masking in accordance with detailed work instructions to precise dimensions.
  • Remove masking from components.
  • Inspect work for completion and quality.
  • Follow written work instructions accurately including engineered sketches and drawings.
  • General housekeeping such as sweeping, organizing, and general cleanup.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • The ability to learn to read and interpret shop drawings and diagrams.
  • Capable of learning the use of measuring gauges, such as micrometers and calipers and the understanding of basic shop math.
  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to use hand tools and have good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and perform the job with minimum supervision.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position has pre‑employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Work in varying positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (
