Position Overview
The State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) is recruiting for three (3) Seasonal Workers. These positions will report to the Mulcahy Campus in Meriden at 294 Colony Street. Work will consist of landscaping, light building maintenance and custodial duties at DESPP troops and buildings throughout the state. Selected candidates must maintain a valid driver's license. These positions will have an end date of November 1, 2026.
WorkSchedule
Monday to Friday 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM. In Office/On-Site.
Responsibilities- Perform landscaping tasks across DESPP facilities.
- Carry out light building maintenance activities.
- Provide custodial duties at DESPP troops and buildings.
- Base hourly rate $16.94–$19.94 (or higher for certain specialties).
- Other specialty rates: e.g., IT $21.94–$24.94, Engineering $20.52–$23.76, Legal $21.94–$24.94.
- Additional compensation up to $0.50 per hour for each season of service or year of completed education.

Any experience and training that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience driving vans and pickup trucks.
- Experience in landscaping, building maintenance, or custodial services.
- Ability to perform emergency first aid; some positions require a current Standard First Aid Certificate.
- Must possess a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator License to operate a bus or motor vehicle.
- May be required to travel.
