Position Highlights
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, second (2nd) shift. Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Meriden, CT. Year‑round position; first shift during summer break, then return to regular second shift schedule when school resumes in August.
Responsibilities- Perform custodial tasks and maintenance of areas such as classrooms, offices, auditoriums, wards, kitchens, dining rooms, and lavatories, including outdoor areas (e.g., trash around buildings).
- Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax and polish floors, shampoo carpets using appropriate equipment such as floor polishers and buffers.
- Wash, dust and polish glass, windows, woodwork, walls, furniture and metal equipment.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recycling in appropriate containers.
- Report needs for repairs and perform minor maintenance.
- Inspect building for damage and report conditions to supervisor.
- Run errands as needed and perform related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications- Experience performing custodial work in a school.
- Experience waxing and polishing floors using floor polishers and buffers.
- Experience removing snow and ice from stairways and walkways around large buildings.
- Experience performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.
- Experience with deep‑cleaning and disinfecting large facilities.
Must have adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, visual and auditory acuity, and maintain such fitness as to be able to perform the duties. A physical examination may be required.
Working ConditionsMay be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or individuals.
