Student Worker / Part-Time

Position Summary:

The Student Activities & Athletics Support Worker assists West Ada School District schools, athletic programs, activity programs, and events with a variety of operational, technical, media, and event-support responsibilities. The position is designed to provide students with meaningful work experience while supporting the successful operation and promotion of school activities and athletic programs.

Assignments may vary based on the needs of the school, athletic program, activity program, or event. Students may be assigned responsibilities involving event production, statistics, photography, videography, game filming, audio/visual support, lighting, sound, technology, communications, and other related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with filming athletic contests, performances, activities, practices, and other school events.
  • Operate cameras and other video equipment for live events, game film, promotional content, or team/program use.
  • Assist coaches and programs with video organization, editing, uploading, and management.
  • Record and maintain athletic statistics and other event-related information.
  • Operate scoreboard, timing, scoring, or other event technology as assigned.
  • Assist with lighting, sound, microphones, and audio/visual equipment for performances, athletic events, assemblies, and other activities.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of event production equipment.
  • Provide technical support for presentations, performances, meetings, and other school activities.
  • Assist with photography, social media content, promotional materials, and other communications supporting school programs.
  • Assist athletic and activity programs with organizing digital files, photographs, videos, statistics, and other program information.
  • Learn and utilize district-approved software, technology platforms, and equipment related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist with event preparation, including equipment setup, field/court preparation, and other operational tasks.
  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with students, coaches, advisors, staff, officials, parents, and community members.
  • Follow all district, school, athletic association, safety, technology, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Protect and properly use district equipment, technology, facilities, and resources.
  • Perform other duties related to athletics, activities, and school events as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, coaches, advisors, and the public.
  • Interest or experience in athletics, activities, event production, technology, media, communications, or related areas.
  • Ability to learn and operate cameras, computers, audio/visual equipment, software, and other technology.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and other non-school hours when assigned.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment when working with students and school programs.
  • Willingness to learn new technology and skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled West Ada School District student in good standing.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the assigned position.
  • Demonstrated interest, experience, or willingness to learn in the area(s) related to the assignment.
  • Must meet all district requirements for student employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with athletics, activities, event production, statistics, photography, videography, broadcasting, audio/visual technology, or related areas.
  • Experience operating cameras, sound systems, lighting equipment, computers, or other technology.
  • Experience with video editing or digital media platforms.
  • Experience working as part of a team in a school, athletic, or community setting.
Working Conditions:

Work may occur in a variety of school and athletic environments, including gymnasiums, stadiums, athletic fields, auditoriums, classrooms, offices, and other district facilities. Assignments may require working indoors or outdoors and may include evening and…
