- Perform carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim.
- Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
- Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
- Select materials necessary for the work.
$36.16 per hour plus $10.00 fringe benefits used toward insurance and 401(k).
Job Skills Requirements- Ability to use and knowledge of all tools and equipment that are used by the trade.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams as they pertain to the work.
- Ability to perform work in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions.
- Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex problems.
- Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply theory and select proper materials.
- Ability to operate various equipment for the trade (e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts, bobcat backhoe).
- Ability to operate industrial‑size tools (e.g., table saws, band saws, planers, sanders, routers).
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening and physical, including periodic retests.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions (summer temperatures up to 120°F).
- Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs unassisted.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license without special restrictions.
- Must have dependable transportation and a reliable means of communication.
- Must speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must have a well‑mannered customer service attitude.
- Must be willing to cross‑train in other areas.
- Must be punctual, responsible, and dependable.
- Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability.
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy.
- Must deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs.
- Must be safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies.
- Must work both as part of a team and independently.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and not hold multiple citizen ships.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance before employment and maintain it throughout employment.
- Must be a current SMS employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Metal building component experience.
- Concrete form setting and finishing abilities.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and not hold multiple citizen ships.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance before employment and maintain it throughout employment.
- Must be a current SMS employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
