As a Senior EVS Associate at Banner Desert Medical Center, you will play a vital leadership role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and infection control throughout our facility. This position goes beyond routine cleaning to encompass specialized responsibilities including heavy‑duty floor care (stripping, refinishing, burnishing), carpet extraction, and project‑based cleaning assignments. You will operate and maintain advanced power‑cleaning equipment, respond promptly to service requests via computerized tracking systems, and perform critical infection control procedures in specialized clinical areas.

As a senior team member, you will serve as a role model, provide mentorship, and exercise sound judgment to ensure the hospital remains safe, clean, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff.

Schedule: full‑time, Night Shift 11:00 pm – 7:30 am, rotating weekends.

Position Summary

This position conducts heavy cleaning and floor care work such as carpet cleaning, stripping/refinishing hard floor surfaces, and special projects. It operates and maintains power cleaning equipment, responds to assigned service requests, and maintains safety and cleanliness, identifying safety issues related to housekeeping.

Core Functions

Respond promptly to all requests for cleaning services via computerized and paper‑based tracking systems; conduct requested work and maintain task and infection control logs.

Perform specialty cleaning and infection control functions in specialized areas such as clinical areas, surgical suites, Cath labs, specialty rooms, and sterile areas; conduct specialized gowning and cleaning procedures in isolation rooms.

Maintain cleanliness and operational functioning of department equipment, notify personnel of needed repairs, and properly log equipment usage.

Assess environmental conditions, anticipate and resolve clutter and safety issues, and refer problems to supervisors as needed; maintain communication about repair status.

Provide leadership for less experienced associates and assist with on‑the‑job training in cleaning techniques, chemical usage, supply restocking, and infection control procedures.

Perform scheduled floor care procedures—including dust mopping, mopping, stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and carpet extraction—and calculate quantities and mix ratios of cleaning chemicals.

Work under regular supervision within assigned facilities; internal customers include staff, physicians, nurses, patients, visitors, supervisors, managers, and executives; external customers include visitors, patients, and staff from other facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires one to two years of diversified environmental service work experience in a health care or institutional setting; skills to operate typical industrial cleaning equipment and use appropriate cleaning techniques for healthcare; basic math skills; effective oral and written communication; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to multi‑task and handle changing priorities; role model for customer service, safe work practices, and infection control including hand hygiene.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a behavioral health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic computer skills are helpful; previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred. Additional related education and/or experience is also advantageous.
