Custodian - Central Area Support - Part Time - Custodial
Employment Type: Part time (29 hours per week)
Base Hourly: $16.87
Class/Calendar: A12, 12 months
Benefits: None
Performance Pay: Available annually: 1% of the base hourly rate for each year of verified experience within ten years, up to a ten-year maximum; 1% for holding an AA or higher degree if not required for the position.
Job Summary: Perform custodial duties as required by district standards to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform custodial duties as required by district standards.
- Perform diversified tasks daily to maintain cleanliness and safety of the schools.
- Operate custodial power equipment.
- Assist in moving equipment and furniture as required.
- Assist other personnel as needed to support completion of their work activities.
- Assist with other assigned duties appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with proof of insurance and reliable transportation.
- Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures.
- High School education or GED preferred.
- Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate.

- Ability to perform heavy manual labor as required.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan day’s workload.

- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and follow directions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work (travel) to a variety of school sites daily as needed.
- Frequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requiring proper safety precautions.
- Schools can be bustling with students, teachers, and activities, requiring custodians to navigate through crowds and maintain order.
- Frequently bends to clean floors, pick up trash, and access low areas.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
