Custodian Lead - Lincoln Elementary School
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Base Hourly: $19.89 per hour
Job Summary: To supervise custodial staff assigned to the school; to perform custodial duties as required by district standards; and to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment.
Drug & Alcohol Testing: Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of the new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required for all new contract employees who work in custodial. A confirmed positive test will disqualify the applicant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise custodians assigned to school.
- Assist with diverse tasks such as lights, special set‑ups, opening and closing of buildings, to maintain the school plant.
- Request needed supplies and equipment from the district warehouse.
- Conduct frequent inspections of the school plant.
- Implement improvements in cleaning procedures when necessary.
- Maintain site custodial payroll records and submit reports to the district custodial office.
- Maintain upkeep of the school during the summer session and supervise summer clean‑up as directed.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Maintain regular and on‑time attendance.
- Work during special events at school when needed.
- Report necessary facility repairs and equipment problems.
- Monitor work done daily and complete specific work assignments.
- Assist with other duties as appropriate to the area of assignment.
Required Qualifications: Minimum six months custodial experience; working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Record‑keeping experience.
- Minimum six months supervisory experience.
- Model attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate.
- Demonstrate commitment to the MPS Promise.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively, work independently and under pressure.
- Ability to supervise employees and resolve personnel and custodial issues.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff members.
- Satisfactory work record.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment &
Physical Requirements:
- Work inside classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, offices, and outside maintaining school grounds.
- Navigate through crowds and maintain order during bustling school activities.
- Frequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requiring safety precautions.
- Work during special events including weekends.
- Potential exposure to high temperatures when working outside.
- Perform heavy manual labor; lift approximately 50 pounds.
