Job Description
To perform custodial duties as required by district standards; to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform custodial duties per district standards.
- Perform diversified tasks daily to maintain cleanliness and safety of schools.
- Operate custodial power equipment.
- Assist in moving equipment and furniture as required.
- Assist other personnel as needed to support their work activities.
- Assist with other duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with proof of insurance and reliable transportation.
- Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures.
- High School or Trade School degree preferred.
- Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate.
- Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor as required.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and plan daily workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff members.
- Satisfactory work record.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and follow directions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to a variety of school sites on a daily basis as needed.
- Frequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requires proper safety precautions.
- Schools can be bustling with students, teachers, and activities, requiring custodians to navigate through crowds and maintain order.
- Frequently bends to clean floors, pick up trash, and access low areas.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.

Base Hourly: $17.12
Class/Calendar: A12, 12 months
Performance Pay:
Available annually. 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum. 1% for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position.
