Custodian Lead - Stapley Junior High School
Job Summary: To supervise custodial staff assigned to the school; to perform custodial duties as required by district standards; and to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment.
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week), 2nd Shift Evening (plus $.35/hr shift pay)

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise custodians assigned to the school
- Delegate and check work assignments daily
- Implement instructions for administrators and custodial supervisor for special events
- Supervise and assist with many diversified tasks (lights, security of facility, coordination with other departments for special projects, etc.) each day to maintain the school plant
- Request needed supplies and equipment from district warehouse
- Conduct frequent inspections of school plant
- Implement improvements in cleaning procedures as necessary
- Maintain site custodial payroll records and submit reports to district custodial office
- Track extra time for student fund events and overtime and report to custodial payroll in a timely manner
- Maintain upkeep of school during summer session
- Supervise and assist in summer clean‑up as directed by supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Regular and on‑time attendance required
- Report necessary facility repairs and equipment problems
- Assist in product and equipment evaluation as needed
- Assist other personnel as may be required to support them in completing their work activities
- Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum two years’ custodial experience
- Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School education or equivalent
- Minimum twelve months supervisory experience
- Record‑keeping experience

- Ability to instruct and assist custodial staff in the correct procedures to perform duties
- Knowledge of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures
- Ability to plan and organize effectively, work independently and under pressure
- Ability to supervise employees and resolve personnel and custodial issues
Work Environment &
Physical Requirements:
- Custodians work inside classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and offices, as well as outside maintaining school grounds.
- Schools can be bustling with students, teachers, and activities, requiring custodians to navigate through crowds and maintain order.
- Frequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requires proper safety precautions.
- May work special events at school including weekends.
- May be exposed to high temperatures when working outside.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor as required; ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
