Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
2 ND Shift Evening (plus $.35/hr. shift pay)
Base Hourly: $19.89
Class/Calendar: B21,12 months
Benefits: Vacation, sick leave, holidays,retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurance
Performance Pay: Available annually

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to aten-year maximum

Job Summary: To supervise custodial staff assigned to school; to perform custodial duties as required by district standards; and to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new contract employees who work in Custodial. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise custodians assigned to school
- Supervise and assist with many diversified tasks (i.e. lights, special setups, opening and closing of buildings, etc.) each day to maintain the school plant
- Request for needed supplies and equipment from district warehouse
- Conduct frequent inspections of school plant
- Implement improvements in cleaning procedures when necessary
- Maintain site custodial payroll records and submit reports to district custodial office
- Maintain upkeep of school during summer session
- Supervise and assist in summer clean up as directed by supervisor
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Work special events at school when needed
- Report necessary facility repairs and equipment problems
- Monitor work done daily and complete specific work assignments
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- Minimum six months’ custodial experience
- Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures
- High School education or equivalent
- Record keeping experience
- Minimum six months supervisory experience

- Ability to plan and organize effectively, work independently and under pressure
- Ability to supervise employees and resolve personnel and custodial issues

- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Physical Requirements
- Custodians work inside classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and offices, as well as outside maintaining school grounds.
- Schools can be bustling with students, teachers, and activities, requiring custodians to navigate through crowds and maintain order.
