The Painter will be responsible for painting, maintaining, and repairing surfaces of the building, furniture, rooms, and equipment throughout the facility in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Cooperate and assist the Engineering management in the achievement of hotel and department goals.
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in the hotel or directly related industry.
- Minimum of two or more years of experience in building maintenance or related experience.
- Knowledge of carpentry and strong knowledge of paint and wallpaper.
- Preventive maintenance background preferred.
- Perform rigorous tasks including working from ladders, under equipment, and handle awkward materials or apparatus required of tasks assigned.
- Paint, maintain and repair painted, wall-covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structures, rooms, furniture and equipment throughout the hotel and facilities.
- Prepare and paint surfaces using techniques and tools including, but not limited to, measuring surfaces applying spackle and plaster, mixing paint and using brushes, rollers, etc.
- Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces including, but not limited to, hanging vinyl paper, fabric and foil wall coverings.
- Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, wood and masonry surfaces requiring staining and varnishing.
- Repair hotel guest rooms as assigned under the Preventative Maintenance program.
- Report broken or misused equipment to Engineering Manager or Director.
- Follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist in the maintenance of the department's inventory by reporting needed supplies.
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet, product labeling, proper storing, and handling of materials.
- Perform other general maintenance duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/ machinery.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends, including overnight shift.
- Able to perform multiple tasks.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift (up to 8 hours).
