Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Westlake Nursing and Rehab Center in Dania Beach, Florida. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, ensuring the facility is safe, clean, and functional, and supporting a comfortable and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition at all times.
  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems, patient areas, and common spaces.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., life safety codes, health department standards, OSHA requirements).
  • Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, safety records, and compliance documentation.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor work performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of critical systems (boilers, generators, medical gas systems if applicable, fire alarm systems).
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Ensure proper functioning of backup systems, including emergency power.
  • Assist in developing and managing the maintenance budget.
  • Monitor expenses and control costs without compromising safety or quality.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Order parts and materials as needed.
  • Oversee upkeep of exterior grounds, parking areas, and landscaping.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping/environmental services to ensure overall facility cleanliness and safety.
Maintenance Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in healthcare or skilled nursing facility.

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and life safety codes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and technical documents.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and work order systems.
Maintenance Working Conditions
  • May require on‑call availability for emergencies.
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Physical demands include lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.
