The Equipment Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring that equipment, utilities, and building systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and internal company standards. The role leads a team of maintenance technicians and manages preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and support continuous production.

Compensation

$100,000 – $120,000 per year

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities for production equipment, utilities, and facility systems
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime
  • Manage calibration schedules for critical equipment and instruments
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and internal quality standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation for audits
  • Support internal and external regulatory inspections
  • Supervise, train, and develop maintenance technicians and support staff
  • Schedule and assign work orders and on-call coverage
  • Analyze equipment performance and implement reliability improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve uptime and efficiency
  • Manage external contractors and service providers
  • Oversee spare parts inventory and procurement
  • Evaluate vendor performance and service quality
  • Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5–10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, food, or medical device preferred)
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience in a cGMP-regulated environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with HVAC, cleanroom systems, boilers, and utilities
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Understanding of calibration, validation, and regulatory documentation
  • Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery and controlled environments
  • May require occasional off-hours or weekend availability for emergencies or shutdowns
  • Requires adherence to safety protocols and cleanroom procedures where applicable
