Miami, FL Full-Time Engineering Service

Stationary Engineer performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boilers, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a County hospital, institution, large office building or complex of buildings; may instruct or lead other engineers; may instruct or lead resident workers; and do other related work.

• Follow oral and written directions.
• Demonstrates mechanical ability.
• Keep accurate records.
• Install, operate, and make repairs to the various types of equipment listed at the plants.
• Make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications.
• Lay out work for others and direct them in this work.
• Analyze situation accurately and take effective actions.
• Maintain and adjust temperatures for the different buildings keeping comfortable temperatures.
• Possess , initiative, dependability, good judgment, ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
• Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

High School diploma is required.

• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
• Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Physical Requirements - Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
