Janitorial/Maintenance Worker – Contracted Through Edustaff
Location: Willis Early Childhood Education Center, Kingsford, Dickinson County; services throughout Dickinson and Iron Counties
Employment Type: Full-time, full-year contract through Edustaff
ScheduleSchool year:
Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Summer:
Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Additional work for winter snow removal and other assignments may be required.
$16.00–18.00 per hour, based on experience and maintenance capabilities.
Paid time off: 17 days per year.
10 paid holidays per year.
Custodial work and basic maintenance duties to support the district and the Head of Maintenance.
Responsibilities- Basic custodial duties: cleaning all areas of building(s)
- Routine upkeep: changing light tubes, ballasts, and burnt-out bulbs
- Basic repairs: fixing loose door handles or cabinet doors, unclogging minor sink drains, mending or replacing damaged ceiling tiles
- Cosmetic work: patching drywall holes, basic painting, removing graffiti
- Preventative care: recommend supplies and equipment for plant maintenance; swap air handling/ventilation filters; maintain district vehicles for routine maintenance
- Event set‑up: move, assemble, and dismantle furniture or equipment for school functions
- Maintain grounds: mowing grass, tree trimming, landscaping, snow removal, and general grounds cleaning
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to kneel, bend, walk, lift up to 50 lb
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate maintenance vehicles, including trucks, tractors, and snowplow
- Problem‑solving, ability to work independently, prioritize and follow through on work orders
- Ability to work under pressure and withstand physical stress
- Ability to work with people of all age levels
- Good work record regarding attendance, punctuality, dependability, positive attitude, and cooperation with personnel
