What this job involves
The Janitorial Supervisor ensures the proper operation and performance of all aspects of a comprehensive janitorial program in a manufacturing and administrative environment. The role requires hands‑on leadership, safety compliance expertise, and the ability to manage union‑represented employees in a fast‑paced setting.
Responsibilities- Review previous shift End of Shift (EOS) reports and address carry‑over items
- Conduct daily safety moments and assign employee routes, flexing staff to address hot spots or absences
- Oversee general housekeeping and emergency response cleanup programs with daily client communication and detailed shift reporting
- Audit work spaces using Go Spot Check and report supplies usage for ordering
- Supervise cleaning staff performance, monitor cleaning activities, and ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies
- Establish and enforce cleaning standards, coach and develop employees, and schedule specific duties
- Inspect cleaning equipment regularly and control cleaning materials usage to minimize waste
- 2–4 years of management experience
- Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Corrigo, and Maximo
- Experience managing UAW (union) represented employees, including CBA grievance and discipline processes
- Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety, OSHA, State and Local Regulatory Compliance, and HAZMAT compliance
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Knowledge of ISO Compliance and Environmental Compliance Initiatives
- Experience with environmental emergency response procedures
- Familiarity with KPI compliance and client customer satisfaction survey processes
- Ability to coordinate employee PTO/vacation scheduling and maintain training schedules and records
