Job Title:
Custodian (Part-time, 32 hours per week)

Location:
Middletown, CT
Schedule:
2nd shift, Monday/Friday 3:00pm - 11:00pm and Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 3:00pm - 9:00pm
- Part-time, 32 hours per week
- 2nd shift schedule
- Work in a patient building at a state hospital
- Perform all custodial tasks in the patient building, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, stripping, and waxing floors.
- Collect soiled linens and distribute clean linen throughout the building.
- Collect and dispose of all trash and recycling in appropriate containers.
- Use proper custodial equipment to polish floors and shampoo carpets.
- Clean all patient and non-patient areas, including windows and vents.
- Assist in routine window and glass cleaning.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, furniture, and metal equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing fuses, lubricating door hinges, and removing snow and ice from stairways.
- Run errands and inspect buildings for damage, reporting conditions to supervisor.
- Move furniture and set up classrooms as needed.
- Perform related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications- One year or more of custodial or janitorial experience in a hospital setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures.
- Experience with floor care: vacuuming, mopping, waxing, and buffing.
- Adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, visual, and auditory acuity to perform duties.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights.
- A physical examination may be required.
