Facilities Assistant
Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center, located in Middletown, CT, is seeking a reliable, skilled, and detail-oriented Facilities Assistant to join our team.
As a Facilities Assistant, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for our staff, clients, and animal patients. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on problem-solving, feels comfortable working in a bustling veterinary hospital, and has a flexible schedule that includes weekend availability.
Key Responsibilities- Minor Electrical & Lighting:
Replace light bulbs, ballast fixtures, and troubleshoot minor electrical issues safely. - Plumbing Maintenance:
Repair leaky faucets, clear minor clogs, and maintain hospital sink and drainage systems. - Carpentry & Patching:
Perform basic carpentry repairs, patch drywall, and handle interior painting projects as needed. - General Handyman Tasks:
Hang signage, assemble furniture, repair doors/locks, and ensure all hardware functions smoothly. - Hospital Safety:
Maintain awareness of clinical surroundings to ensure repairs do not disrupt patient care or compromise safety protocols.
- Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for this position.
- Technical
Skills:
Strong basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting techniques. - Schedule Flexibility:
Weekend availability is required; final shift schedules will be determined upon hire. - Comfortable with Animals:
Must be completely at ease working around dogs, cats, and other pets, as well as medical equipment. - Physical Stamina:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or kneel for extended periods. - Communication:
Excellent communication skills to coordinate repair schedules with hospital management and medical staff. - Must be 18 years or older to apply
Compensation: $24.00 an hour
