Scope / OverviewThe Field Operator II is responsible for operating wells and production equipment while applying established operating, maintenance, and safety procedures to meet production targets, optimize equipment performance, and ensure safe, reliable operations.
This role supports daily field activities through continuous well surveillance, equipment monitoring, basic maintenance, production optimization, and coordination with maintenance and well intervention teams. Candidates must demonstrate strong operational knowledge of artificial lift systems, pipeline operations, emergency response procedures, and production troubleshooting.
Main Functions- Operate wells and production equipment in accordance with established operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Execute daily operational objectives while maintaining housekeeping, environmental, and security standards.
- Participate actively in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Monitor well and equipment performance to identify optimization opportunities and corrective actions.
- Perform basic maintenance activities as an Equipment Care Technician.
- Coordinate corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate shift handovers and operational logbooks.
- Collect production samples and perform field laboratory testing.
- Support emergency response activities and incident reporting requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance teams, and well intervention personnel.
- Diagnose well performance issues and provide accurate information for wellwork planning.
- Ensure wellheads and surface equipment are maintained and ready for intervention activities.
- Support ongoing wellwork operations as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of field operations experience preferred.
- Previous experience as a Field Technician or Field Operator.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, health, environmental, and security standards.
- Working knowledge of pipeline operations and production systems.
- Knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures and operations management processes.
- Understanding of applicable regulations and commercial agreements.
- Computer proficiency and ability to utilize field reporting systems.
- Pumper experience.
- Artificial lift experience, including gas lift, ESP, and plunger lift systems.
- Experience troubleshooting well production issues.
- Knowledge of production surveillance and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning and coordination.
- Must reside locally in the Midland area.
- In-person meet and greet interview preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Agency-supplied half-ton truck.
- Exxon Mobil-provided 4-gas monitor.
- Candidate to supply minimal hand tools (list to be provided).
