REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Design, Environmental Foreman

SUPERVISES: None

• High School diploma or GED

• No prior experience necessary but must pass 24 hour instruction class

To provide a safe learning environment for students, teachers and other school personnel by removing Asbestos from district facilities.

• Minimum Certification/
  
  Education:
  
  Make applications to register as an asbestos worker in the State of Texas; good physical condition and have no respiratory problems; must have a respirator fit test administered by a competent person; attend and pass a 24 hour instruction, 8 hours of which must be hands on training.
• Special Knowledge/
  
  Skills:
  
  Knowledge of Asbestos removal equipment.
• Minimum Experience: No prior experience necessary but must pass 24 hour instruction class.

• Heavy lifting, 50 to 100 lbs.
• Climbing, reaching overhead
• Use of arms and legs
• Breath with mechanical respirator
• Must stay in contained areas for long periods of time
• Use of fingers
• Standing, walking, repetitive bending
• Regular attendance required.

• Standard maintenance tools and specialized equipment in Asbestos Abatement, Mold Remediation, and Environmental Services
• Artificial breathing devices as required by job need and government regulations
• Ladders, lifts, etc.
• Use of personal protective equipment including Tyvek coveralls, ear protection, eye protection, and all types of respirators
• MISD standard pickup, van, bobtail truck, trailer, or other similar vehicle as assigned
• Standard hand tools and equipment
• Office computer and district supported software

• Outside and inside
• Dust, high heat, and high moisture, water
• Silica, Asbestos, Mold, etc.
• Working on ladders or scaffolding
• Protracted or irregular hours of work
• Work in tight or confined spaces, attics, tunnels, etc.
• Must work in an EPA containment environment
