Role and Responsibilities
The Tool Specialist is responsible for working as directed by the Operations Manager and on-site client representative (where applicable) to complete and document required field services including installation and/or servicing as required by the client in a safe and accurate manner while following Company approved processes and procedures. Tool Specialists are also responsible for the safe and responsible operation and care of any Company owned equipment provided for their use, as well as maintaining a courteous and professional relationship with all client personnel encountered and actively working with customers to identify opportunities for additional work.
The duties may also include other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
- State issued Driver License (standard Operator) is required.
- Previous work experience in a comparable industry is required.
- Previous work experience in a comparable position is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mandated and/or accepted industry safety principles, techniques, and processes.
- Knowledge of downhole tool installation and service.
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations including displacements, capacities, buoyancies, and pressures
- Ability to account for, caliper, measure, and document all equipment against job specifications
- Ability to accurately and legibly complete field tickets, schematics, and job reports
- Ability to maintain acceptable and timely attendance as assigned.
- Ability to perform work in a non-centralized work setting.
- Ability to operate issued equipment, including motor vehicles, safely.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exemplary customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Social skills to include, but not limited to, adjusting actions in relation to others' actions, actively looking for ways to help people, being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Ability to listen and understand instructions, ask appropriate questions and complete actions as instructed.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively.

- Ability to adequately perform necessary tasks with Company issued computer equipment.
Environmental and Safety
The work is primarily performed outdoors, with a high probability of extended exposure to intemperate conditions. The work may include exposure to potentially hazardous conditions and substances, and requires wearing common monitoring, protective or safety equipment. The position requires extended periods of standing, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The position requires frequent walking, and infrequent running.
Work duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform duties assigned by Operations Manager to ensure customer orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Utilize the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly in accordance with training provided regarding the proper use and storage of the equipment.
- Attend and participate in regular communication sessions and meetings regarding safety and other aspects of work.
- Ensure process and product problems encountered are documented and reported in accordance with the Field Non Conformance Reporting OPS-M005 (FNCR ) and Corrective and Preventative Action system requirements.
- Ensure all paperwork such as invoicing, service reports, etc. are completed promptly, accurately and legibly, by computer if required, and forwarded to District Manager within required time frame.
