Position Function/

Purpose:

Daily supervision of all assigned Custodial Staff to assure all Custodians follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Major Responsibilities:

• Manage and direct the work of the custodian staff on the assigned worksite
• Keep the building and grounds including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean
• Guard against fire and accident hazards
• Keep operation cost to a minimum without reducing efficiency
• Help to prevent property loss that may be caused by abuse
• Keep all tools and equipment in unserviceable condition. Practice and pursue preventive maintenance
• Keep floor clean, waxed, buffed, vacuumed, or extracted
• Schedule and execute all normal housekeeping operations
• To keep light bulbs and tubes replaced
• Report maintenance through proper channels
• To be responsible for the security of buildings
• Setting and moving irrigation pipe and sprinklers on campus ground as assigned
• Keeps the supervisor and principal informed of all developments that affect custodial services
• Perform such other duties as assigned by Custodial Supervisor or Custodial Trainer

Qualification Requirements:

• The ability to read and write English
• Ability to properly operate cleaning equipment
• Lift heavy equipment
• Proper use of cleaning supplies
• Operate all custodial equipment
• Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD's vehicle safety and use program
• Pass all training courses

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
Heavy lifting, pushing/pulling, strenuous walking, repeated bending, standing and/or climbing, reaching above head and to the floor. Equipment used includes buffer/stripper, electric drill/hand tools, blower, wet and dry vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, extractors, all industry standard custodial equipment, ladder, weed eater.

Work Environment:

Outside and inside. Work alone. Hot and cold temperatures. Dust. Toxic chemicals. Slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Work on ladders.
