Job Summary
Responsible for responding to alarms and equipment issues, working with current plant conditions and commercial commitments. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of equipment in the gas fleet. Promote safe, effective, and reliable operation. Perform basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and operate equipment within specification and environmental regulations under the direction of skilled Plant Technicians.
Key Accountabilities- Inspect, repair, and maintain various types of plant equipment.
- Ensure proper operation of the plant.
- Repair and calibrate equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and systems.
- Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental procedures (Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, PPE).
- Perform technical work or analysis of processes in areas of expertise.
- Gain knowledge of the entire plant cycle.
- Assist/perform troubleshooting of plant equipment; execute preventive and corrective maintenance, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair/replacement, removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
- Provide skills for maintaining equipment at the plant.
- Perform clearances in LOTO under direction of senior operator or supervisor.
- Utilize and operate various hand, power, precision, or machine tools necessary for safe and productive work.
- Understand and follow current safety and environmental regulations.
- Safely test and utilize a respirator for handling aqueous ammonia and fit test annually.
- Minimum of 1 year industry‑related experience in a gas turbine combined cycle power plant or equivalent.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Effective oral and verbal communication skills.
- Standard computer‑based skills.
- Applicants not currently employed in specific positions in Fossil Generation must pass the Plant Operator Selection System / Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) exams administered on an as‑needed basis by Human Resources.
- Demonstrate continual self‑improvement in job skills and knowledge.
- Progression of skill within primary skill set.
