Under the direction of the EVS Supervisor, the successful candidate will perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and any other assigned area in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control procedures of Sodexho Marriott Services and Bridgeport Hospital.

Responsibilities- CLEANING TECHNIQUES:
After initial training, perform the following functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods: 1.1 High and low dusting; 1.2 Dust horizontal and vertical surfaces; 1.3 Empty trash receptacles, remove trash, and reline containers; 1.4 Damp wipe/disinfect furniture and surfaces; 1.5 Clean and polish bathroom and bathroom fixtures; 1.6 Dry mop or vacuum floors; 1.7 Wet mop/disinfect floors;
1.8 Burnish/refine floors; 1.9 Clean wall surfaces and windows; 1.10 Polish metallic surfaces; 1.11 Replenish room supplies; 1.12 Perform check‑out or room discharge cleaning; 1.13 Shampoo carpets; 1.14 Collect bulk trash from soiled holding areas; 1.15 Inspect one’s own work for quality. - MAINTENANCE & CLEANLINESS:
Perform all EVS related tasks with a sense of urgency and customer service orientation; complete cleaning assignments within acceptable time parameters; measure and dilute cleaning chemicals appropriately; maintain equipment and stations for cleanliness and report repair needs; assist in cleaning emergency spills; observe and report general repair needs. - SAFETY:
Assure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies and procedures; adhere to safety requirements when using equipment such as razors, scrapers, vacuum, auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, extractors, and cleaning chemicals; demonstrate proper use of protective devices and clothing (jackets, gloves, floor signs, shoes, goggles); immediately report accidents and incidents to supervisor; keep floors free of spills, trash, or articles;
demonstrate safe lifting practices; demonstrate fire (emergency) evacuation plan; adhere to lock‑out/tag‑out procedures. - ADDITIONAL TASKS:
Perform any additional assignments as required by supervisor; attend all scheduled meetings and in‑services as directed by supervisor or manager.

Skills:
Ability to understand and speak English at a level that allows for safe efficient performance of assigned duties; must pass all pre‑employment screenings; after initial training, demonstrate ability to use supplies, tools and equipment properly without waste or neglect; ability to lift 50 pounds; successful completion of department orientation. - Physical Demand:
Perform duties using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with arms; talk or hear; stand and walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently; lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; noise level in the work environment is moderate;
able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
