Compensation and Benefits
Pay range: $21.50 - $24.20 per hour. Base pay varies by knowledge, skills, shift differentials and experience. Additional $2.75 per hour overnight shift differential (10pm–6am), $1.75 per hour evening shift differential (6pm–10pm), and $1 per hour weekend differential. Employees can earn bonuses and participate in medical, dental, vision, wellness, financial (6% 401k match) and other benefits.
What you will do- Respond to member requests for service and accept calls or dispatch with an ETA.
- Locate members, assess the scene safety, and ensure the vehicle is in a safe position before providing service.
- Greet members and manage their emotional state, calm, reassure, or advise as needed.
- Communicate clearly about the battery program, testing importance, benefits, and recommend appropriate battery types.
- Report diagnostic results to members, explain needed repairs, and provide referrals to approved facilities.
- Maintain performance standards in conversion, testing, and installs.
- Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained) and battery service.
- Perform diagnostic testing on disabled vehicle systems including electrical, battery, starting, charging, ignition, and fuel delivery.
- Determine best course of action, ask for assistance when unsure.
- Conduct battery testing, maintain terminals, boost or replace batteries, install appropriate batteries on‑the‑spot, and follow safety procedures.
- If towing is required, call for tow.
- Maintain AAA high service standards and image.
- Keep the service vehicle and equipment safe and in good condition; conduct safety checks and inventory tools and products.
- Follow temporarily repaired vehicles, ensuring member safety or transport to destination per policies.
- Operate the laptop computer to record van activity, invoicing, cash and credit receipts, and inventory.
- Inspect and maintain the appearance and mechanical condition of the vehicle; restock batteries, test new stock, and dispose of obsolete batteries as hazardous waste.
- Certify to operate a Battery Service Vehicle by attending required training prior and refreshers annually.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School GED required. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Post‑secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity with electrical troubleshooting is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications- Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction.
- Able to obtain and maintain a minimum of one‑year DOT card pre‑hire and as a current employee.
- Satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre‑hire screening and periodically during employment.
