Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Overview
Our animal vaccine facility in Millsboro, Delaware is experiencing dynamic growth to support the global poultry production supply chain. The site has been selected by the Company’s Animal Health Division to be the Center of Excellence for Poultry and Freeze Dried Vaccines. We are looking for high energy, novel-thinking individuals to support the site’s long-term journey. This position will be a critical element for building a high-performance, proactive organization within Manufacturing Operations, operating under a Safety First, Quality Always mindset.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process control and environmental control HVAC systems
- Operational performance and regulatory compliance ownership for all site HVAC equipment, including Ultra-Cold Freezers and Process Chillers
- Provide timely feedback and coordination to site customers regarding the status of HVAC systems
- Ensure appropriate spare parts inventories are established and maintained
- Support investigations resulting from abnormal equipment performance
- Actively support safety initiatives including shop floor audits, lock-out/tag-out, line break, and confined space permitting
- Provide training to others, as required
- Work as part of an inclusive, high-performance team to achieve site mission, vision, and goals through efficient and safe operation of equipment and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices
- High School Diploma (required)
- A.S. degree in a technical discipline (preferred)
- Two (2)+ years experience working with refrigeration equipment
- Five (5)+ years’ experience with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
- Experience with general plumbing and pipe fitting work
- Experience with electrical controls for HVACR systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics or mechanical systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Universal refrigerant license required
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements associated with this job, including lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs, working from ladders and elevated platforms
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Experience working within OSHA General Industry standards including hot work and lockout/tag out
- Biotech / pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing industry experience
- Experience with
-70 Celsius Ultra Cold Freezers, Freeze Driers and Liquid Nitrogen equipment - Experience with gas furnaces and gas heaters
- Experience in Biopharmaceutical processing equipment including freeze driers, ultra-cold freezers and incubators
- Working knowledge of an automated building management system (Siemens and JCI)
- Experience supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Actively support, participate and embrace an empowered team culture with excellent communication skills
- Strong team skills, flexibility, motivation, and problem-solving with emphasis on safety and compliance
- Proficient with CMMS utilization
- Experience with chilled water systems (Move to Preferred)
- Journeyman Card or Master HVACR License
- Experience with walk-in coolers or walk-in freezers
