Field Service Technician
Job Description
The Field Service Technician role involves daily travel to various sites, whether they are 10 minutes or 2 hours away, with an average daily travel time of 1-2 hours one way. Once acclimated, 50% of the time, travel will be overnight, potentially involving plane travel out-of-state. Expect some weekend work, compensated at a higher rate, with potential overtime required about 5% of the time.
This position is ideal for curious, mechanically minded problem-solvers who enjoy diagnosing issues, working with their hands, and are comfortable working independently while managing their own schedule. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with customers, explaining findings, and building trust.
Responsibilities
+ Travel to multiple customer sites daily, with a focus on clean room certification for compounding pharmacies, hospital operating rooms, medical device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
+ Scan HEPA filters, conduct particle counting, and perform pressure, temperature, and humidity measurements as a significant portion of the job.
+ Certify hoods and troubleshoot issues when tests fail.
+ Own customer relationships and document findings in Excel reports.
+ Perform repairs such as filling holes in filters, changing filters, replacing blower motors, and conducting preventative maintenance and calibration.
+ Communicate effectively with pharmacists, biomedical engineers, and directors of biomedical systems.
Essential Skills
+ Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
+ Technical aptitude in mechanical and electrical systems.
+ Comfortable using technology, including service software, tablets, and measurement instruments.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Clean room experience. Certification is a plus but if not accomplished, will work on getting certified.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ 2-year program or 4-year degree preferred.
+ NSF or CETA certification preferred.
+ Electromechanical skills for troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems.
Work Environment
This role involves traveling to customer sites, including clean rooms, medical device, and pharmaceutical facilities. You will work on equipment such as fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, medical HVAC systems, laminar flows, and autoclaves. The position requires adaptability to varying start times, typically between 7-8 AM, and involves both short and long-duration tasks. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $93600.00/yr.
