Housekeeper/ Maintenance Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Housekeeper/ Maintenance Assistant to join our skilled nursing and rehabilitation team. This unique position combines housekeeping responsibilities with maintenance support duties, splitting time between maintaining a clean, sanitary environment and assisting with the upkeep of facility systems and equipment.
The ideal candidate will take pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff while assisting the Maintenance Director in maintaining facility standards and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housekeeper Responsibilities
Our housekeeping team plays a vital role in supporting quality resident care by maintaining a comfortable and sanitary environment throughout our skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.
Responsibilities include:
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and dining areas.
- Dust, mop, sweep, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
- Remove trash and replace liners as needed.
- Replenish housekeeping supplies and report inventory needs.
- Follow infection prevention, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from residents and staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Assistant will help ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist the Maintenance Director in maintaining facility maintenance standards.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Conduct inspections of facility systems and report any issues.
- Assist with repairs and general building upkeep.
- Help maintain facility grounds and outdoor areas.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed.
- Assist in emergency situations such as power outages, plumbing issues, or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure resident rooms, common areas, and staff areas are safe, functional, and properly maintained.
- Work with the Maintenance Director to prepare rooms for admissions and discharges.
- Help ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Professional, courteous, and customer-service-oriented attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move throughout the facility during the workday.
- Proper body mechanics are required, including bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting as necessary.
- Must be able to observe, listen, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to function independently and demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and professionalism.
- Must be able to work effectively with residents, staff, support agencies, and outside vendors.
