Description
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for coordinating and scheduling maintenance activities. The role maintains the ERP solution integrity, including inventory, preventive maintenance schedules, tasks, and on‑demand maintenance work. The key partners are the Director of Maintenance and technicians for effective scheduling. The position also collaborates with the inventory department on purchasing maintenance parts, equipment, components, and consumables.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinates and schedules maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
- Studies production schedules to understand maintenance needs.
- Determines and records work assignments according to priority and availability.
- Compiles and oversees distribution of the maintenance work schedule using Dymo.
- Reviews work requests/orders for accuracy and clarity.
- Adjusts schedules to meet needs for unexpected emergency work or increased production demands.
- Compiles data to understand the job and estimate labor hours, tools, and resources needed to complete different work orders.
- Acts as a liaison between maintenance and operations.
- Coordinates downtimes with production to reduce interference with production schedules.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive maintenance plan for the facility.
- Monitors equipment performance and identifies areas for improvement or optimization.
- Prepares preventive maintenance plans and schedules in sync with the organization’s maintenance goals.
- Conducts regular inspections to assess equipment condition and identify potential issues.
- Provides technical guidance and support to maintenance team members.
- Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type, and value of material, equipment, or supplies stocked for efficient inventory utilization.
- Coordinates with the Parts Inventory team to ensure maintenance parts are ordered and stocked for planned maintenance activities.
- Supports the AP and Finance departments to ensure all detailed service and contract documentation is complete.
- Supports internal and external audit activities.
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance planning.
- Experience with ERP systems, Dymo, and Sage preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment and components.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in safety, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and code‑compliance documentation and PM development.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklifts. The environment is ventilated, air conditioned, damp, and with vibrations. The ground can be uneven. The employee will rarely be exposed to fumes/gases and/or chemicals. The environment can be dusty and heated. Employees are required to wear the following protective equipment: hard hat, hair and/or beard net, steel toed boots (or equivalent), eye wear, cut gloves, and fall protection hear when necessary.
Hearing protection is optional. The employee is performing the job indoors 95% of the time and 5% outdoors.
