Business IT/Customer Network Technician This Role
The Business IT/Customer Network Technician will install fiber to the premise services, supporting and maintaining commercial network services including LAN and WLAN networks, HPBX, video surveillance and TV services with a high regard to customer service, quality, and efficiency. This position will report to Norvado’s Cable, WI office location.
Knowledge & Experience- Knowledge and skills generally acquired through a certification or Associates degree in Informational Technology, Networking, Telecommunications, or the equivalent training and work experience.
- Proficient in computer systems and residential/commercial network support, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to proprietary Norvado software and applications.
- Comp TIA or similar network certifications are beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions from written, oral, or diagram formats.
- Activities may be necessary outside normal business hours. Must be able to respond to “on‑call” or emergency maintenance situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to company and customer data.
- Ability to use and maintain OSP operational software and applications.
- Ability to pick out color‑coded cables.
- Comply with all RUS specifications, industry standards, safety rules and regulations, and company policies.
- The Business IT/Customer Network Technician reports to the Customer Network Manager and works closely with all departments at Norvado.
- Operates in a typical plant setting with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical components, elevated work areas, electrical hazards, moderate noise levels, and frequent travel by vehicle. Requires normal visual acuity to accurately identify wire colors. Regular interaction with residential and commercial customers to address support needs. Frequent handling and movement of parts and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, with occasional lifting and maneuvering of items up to 50 lbs.
& Tools
- Daily use of various telecom/broadband/network test tools, computers, apps, portals, smart devices, power and hand tools, ladders, OTDRs, fusion splicers, copiers, fax machines, and printers.
- Daily phone, written, and face‑to‑face contact with employees throughout the company to exchange information. Daily phone and face‑to‑face contact with customers to conduct business.
- Occasional overnight travel required.
- Frequent travel by vehicle required.
- Occasional overtime required.
- Scheduled on call required.
