Floor Technician

The Floor Technician will maintain, clean, and sanitize all floors, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet UG2 standards. Working in this role means you’re responsible for keeping high standards of cleanliness and safety, operating cleaning equipment, and organizing and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Shifts available: 1st & 2nd.

• Perform floor care and cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing throughout the DMU campus and facilities.
• Strip and refinish floors.
• Extract carpets.
• Remove and transport waste to proper disposal areas.
• Keep accurate information on floor care logs and checklists.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Aid in the on-the-job training of new staff.
• Operate walk-behind scrubbers, walk-behind extractors, and swing buffers.
• Steam clean upholstery.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Report any notable damages and concerns.
• Adhere to workplace safety standards.
• Use PPE in accordance with job tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Custodial or related experience.
• Preferred:
  Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience stripping and finishing a variety of floors including Terrazzo and VCT.
