Facilities Ground Worker II - Maintenance Operations
Pay Range: $17.87 – $26.81 per hour.
Closing Date: 7/10/26 or upon receipt of 50 application submissions.
Job SummaryThe position is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety and functionality of facilities and grounds, while also operating commercial vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an airbrake endorsement. This role involves performing skilled grounds maintenance tasks, operating heavy equipment, and driving vehicles such as snowplows or specialized maintenance vehicles to support facility operations.
Job Responsibilities- Performs routine (e.g., reset circuit breakers, replace fuses) and preventative maintenance tasks of vehicles and equipment, including inspection and troubleshooting of building systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Complete work assigned through the electronic work order system using electronic note pads; conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and report issues; maintain grounds equipment and CDL-required vehicles with airbrakes.
- Perform maintenance requested by tenants or facilities staff; respond promptly to complex requests or situations and document completed work.
- Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming lawns, cleaning outdoor trash bins; perform advanced tasks such as tree removal, trimming, and stormwater pond maintenance; operate and maintain Bob Cat, Back Hoes, and Frontend Loader for advanced grounds‑keeping tasks.
- Train or guide Facilities Grounds Worker I staff; assist with special projects, events, or emergency response (e.g., storm cleanup); may act on behalf of the Lead on projects or in the Lead's absence.
- Clear walkways, roads, sidewalks, and parking areas of snow, ice, or debris using plows or other heavy equipment; plow and salt roads using a 106 Series Truck, and remove snow using a Frontend Loader on a regular and emergency basis.
- Support moves, quality assurance, and coordination of facility-related tenant requests; support events and other facility tasks as assigned by the Supervisor; use vehicles and trailers equipped with airbrakes for moving and hauling materials.
- Operate and maintain a variety of heavy vehicles requiring a CDL with airbrakes, snowplows/salters, trucks with trailers, and other specialized equipment (e.g., large mowers, loaders, backhoes, skid steers); perform inspections on all assigned vehicles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement.
- At least one year of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or facilities maintenance or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of computers and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Willingness to work any assigned shift and be on call for emergency situations.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.; push or pull up to 150 lbs. on a regular basis.
Knowledge of safe vehicle operation, airbrake systems, and DOT regulations; strong attention to detail and commitment to safety; mechanical skills for equipment maintenance preferred; leading teams or supervisory experience preferred. Must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, shift rotations, holidays, and emergency response (e.g., snow removal).
