Job Details

Location: Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee, WI 53233

Salary Range: $16.00 hourly

Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and custodial duties: clean, disinfect, sanitize, dust, vacuum, wash/wax/polish furniture, clean carpets, walls and windows.
  • Properly use equipment and the appropriate technique for mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors.
  • Maintain and monitor operation of all equipment – cleaning schedule & upkeep repair log.
  • Safely clean up bio‑hazard spills (fully trained in Blood Borne Pathogens).
  • Clean, disinfect, and sanitize restroom facilities and keep fully supplied with towels, soap, and tissue.
  • Set up and take down chairs, tables and props for internal/external events.
  • Maintain walks, shovel snow, and perform exterior cold‑weather duties as required.
  • Collect and dispose of rubbish and trash.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GEO required.
  • Previous custodial experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record required / preferred.
  • Must be able to work a forty‑hour work week and overtime when needed, which includes first and second shifts and may include nights and/or weekends for special event programming.
  • Must be able to operate a computer to access e‑mail and the telephone messaging center.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and make independent evaluations and decisions.
  • Must be physically able to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift 50 pounds, and/or move up to 100 pounds, and move 500 pounds on a cart; occasionally sit and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, carry equipment up and down stairs, and safely climb ladders up to 20 feet.
