Janitor 1st​/2nd​/3rd Shift

Job Summary

Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by Flag Ship, ensuring that all spaces remain neat and clean at all times.

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Uses ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings, dusts and polishes light fixtures, washes and replaces blinds.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Sweeps walks, rakes leaves, cuts grass, removes snow or performs other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Applies protection applications to walls, floors and equipment; removes protective applications from walls, floors and equipment.
• Empty waste baskets, replace liners, dust and clean tops of office furniture, vacuum carpeting and spot‑clean soiled areas on carpets.
• Clean glass on lobby doors, sweep and mop tile areas.
• Wipe and clean all tabletop surfaces, chairs, vending machines and appliances; clean sink and counter areas; sweep and mop tile floors.
• Clean and sanitize toilets, basins, urinals; sweep and mop floors with disinfectant; spot‑clean walls, partitions and doors; refill all restroom dispensers.
• Dust and clean desks, surfaces of tables and high partitions; dust overhead vents and clean interior partition glass.

• Knowledge of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities.
• Good listening and verbal communication skills; ability to speak and understand English.
• Ability to maintain a neat appearance; uniform required at some worksites.
• Attendance of periodic training and safety meetings.
• Ability to understand and anticipate the needs of clients; punctuality.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Six months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.

Small‑to‑large office environment; safety glasses required while performing certain tasks. Fast‑paced work environment exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and moderate noise levels.

• Stand, walk, sit and perform repetitive hand movements and use arms to reach.
• Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time, including long distances.
• Occasional lifting and moving of a minimum of 40 pounds of cleaning products, tools, ladders and trash.
• Required vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.
