Job OverviewThe Facilities Technician III position is critical to the overall success of the University Housing mission. UWM University Housing’s mission is to enhance community members’ cultural understanding, leadership skills, academic success, social connections, and social responsibility by creating safe, comfortable, and well‑maintained living‑learning environments that inspire growth and development for over 4,300 residents and 5,000 guests per year.
This role works for the Facilities Unit for University Housing, which oversees the upkeep of 1.2 million square feet of residential and retail space. The unit comprises maintenance (mechanical infrastructure, electronics, paint, and elevators) and custodial functions. The unit also facilitates capital improvements and long‑term project planning.
Key Responsibilities- Assist trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
- Utilize specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
- Receive, inspect, inventory, and distribute deliveries independently to appropriate entities.
- Troubleshoot, escalated, and document issues according to established policies and procedures.
- Perform routine and non‑routine facility inspections and monitor cleanliness.
University Housing
Required Qualifications- A minimum of 1 year of general maintenance experience.
- Valid driver’s license that meets UW Risk Management Standards.
- High School Diploma.
- 3 or more years of facility maintenance experience.
- Previous on‑call experience.
- Previous experience in a 24/7/365 operation.
- Industrial, technical, or HVAC‑related degrees or certifications.
