The Dental Equipment Repair Technician maintains all School of Dentistry clinical and pre-clinical simulation equipment. This includes troubleshooting as well as overseeing a preventive maintenance program for the entire clinical operation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide repair, installation, maintenance and instruction related to all dental equipment and diagnostic devices located in the School of Dentistry and satellite clinics.
- Instruct faculty, staff and students on the care and use of dental equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance service on all dental equipment.
- Maintain service repair request records and related paperwork.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, parts, and supplies and process orders as needed.
- Attend seminars on new technology and equipment.
- Requires weekend work 2-3 times per year on a scheduled basis for student board examinations.
Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED
- Five+ years related experience
- Strong communication, organizational, problem solving, and customer service skills
- Working knowledge of the following: electrical; plumbing; hydraulic/pneumatic; electro-mechanical; vacuum pump/air compressors; and x-ray systems
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and prior experience working with dental equipment desirable
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs, walk and stand for extended periods of time
