The Custodial Manager is responsible for leading and managing overnight custodial operations across a higher education campus. This position ensures the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of academic buildings, administrative offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and common areas while maintaining a high standard of service for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The Custodial Manager provides leadership, training, scheduling, quality assurance, and operational oversight to a team of custodial employees, ensuring all cleaning services are performed efficiently and in compliance with company policies, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.

• Lead, coach, develop, and supervise a team of custodial supervisors and frontline employees during overnight operations.
• Manage employee performance through regular feedback, recognition, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.
• Conduct shift meetings, safety briefings, and ongoing training sessions.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts for custodial staff.
• Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, safety, and customer service excellence.

• Oversee daily and nightly custodial operations across campus facilities.
• Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to established standards and schedules.
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust assignments to meet operational demands.
• Conduct routine inspections and quality assurance audits to ensure service expectations are met or exceeded.
• Investigate service issues and implement corrective action plans as needed.
• Coordinate special projects, event support, floor care programs, and seasonal cleaning initiatives.

• Maintain positive working relationships with university stakeholders, including facilities staff, housing departments, athletics, and campus leadership.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer concerns and service requests.
• Ensure service delivery aligns with contractual obligations and campus expectations.

• Enforce all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper use of chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain accurate records related to training, incidents, inspections, and compliance requirements.
• Support emergency response activities and campus weather-related operations as needed.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or environmental services experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience leading hourly employees.
• Experience scheduling staff and managing workforce productivity.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce management systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout campus facilities as needed.
