Custodian

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our custodial team. As a full-time custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across our school facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks and report larger issues to the maintenance team.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Respond to emergency clean-up situations promptly and professionally.
• Secure buildings at the end of shifts, including locking doors and turning off lights.

Qualifications:

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must pass a background check and any required district screenings.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Shifts may include 1st or 2nd shift depending on school needs.

Benefits:Health care insurance benefits available first of the month following 60 days of employment. Thirty (30) hours worked per week must be averaged in order to maintain coverage. 401k enrollment is available per the Secure Act guidelines. Earned Sick and Safe time is accrued and can be used per the State of MN guidelines.
