Maintenance Engineer I – Preventive Maintenance
Status:
Hourly, Non‑Exempt
Reports to:
Director of Engineering
Maintain the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and keep records on file. Respond to all guest requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities- Responsible for the Guest Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper, handle and double check guest requests in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner.
- Maintain proper records of the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and the Second Request Program.
- Complete work order request forms on a daily and timely basis.
- Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel – limited local travel required to parts store.
- Hours:
Monday – Friday 7 am – 3:30 pm. - Supervisory duties:
None.
High school diploma, technical/vocational school preferred. Hotel maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
Knowledge- General knowledge of technical fields such as carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.
- Excellent hearing due to hazardous nature of working with mechanical equipment.
- Excellent vision due to hazardous nature of working with mechanical equipment.
- Moderate speech communication skills necessary to communicate with guests and employees.
- Moderate comprehension and literacy required to read logbooks and maintenance requests.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
- Bending/kneeling – approximately 20% of the day.
- Mobility – must be able to move throughout the hotel.
- Continuous standing – varies with project.
- Climbing stairs and ladders – approximately 20% of the day; depends on project.
- Driving the hotel vehicle required for picking up materials.
- Chemicals/agents: contact with various chemicals 2–3 times per week (solvents, adhesives, paints).
- Protective clothing: gloves worn approximately 70% of the day.
- Equipment: hand tools, power tools, lifts, and scaffolds.
Work inside 80% of the week.
