Under general direction, performs work involving organizing, directing and coordinating the overall operations for Environmental Services operations.

Responsibilities include sweeping, stripping, waxing, buffing, sealing, and mopping floors; vacuuming, spot cleaning, and shampooing rugs and carpeting; washing and dusting windows, screens, light fixtures, furniture, ledges, and walls; emptying wastebaskets and ash trays; cleaning and disinfecting lavatory facilities and replenishing supplies; moving furniture to clean; picking up trash, emptying contaminated materials into special containers, and hauling to trash area; cleaning and washing equipment and keeping supply closet orderly and clean;

performing emergency clean ups; mixing detergent solutions; preparing linen and trash for delivery to staging area; stripping patient beds and OR tables; terminally cleaning discharge patient rooms and Operating Rooms; washing walls, fixtures, cabinets, overhead lights, and sinks in the rooms; dusting high ledges, vents, and railings; dry mopping and washing floors and corridors; emptying, cleaning, and relining waste receptacles;

cleaning and vacuuming the Doctor's Lounge; surface cleaning all areas deemed necessary for cleaning; removing intubation blade and bringing to an area for decontamination; and performing related work as required, but only after appropriate training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Equivalent to two years of high school
-OR- an approved equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to deal effectively with patients, visitors, and other personnel; ability to work independently in performing routine tasks; ability to keep simple records; ability to perform tasks involving prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, climbing, and stooping.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous housekeeping experience.
