Mechanical/Facilities Technician
The Mechanical/Facilities Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of all equipment and facilities across Taher's facilities and multiple locations. This role blends hands-on mechanical troubleshooting with facilities oversight, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance planning. The ideal candidate is a technically savvy "jack of all trades" who can support both production line uptime and general facility needs.
Equipment & Mechanical Support
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor repairs on production lines, metal detectors, pallet wrappers, and other food manufacturing equipment.
- Partner with contracted maintenance vendors; coordinate service calls, quotes, and repairs.
- Support implementation of new equipment, upgrades, and layout changes.
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop and maintain PM schedules for all production and facilities equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improved uptime and reliability.
Facilities Maintenance
- Perform general building maintenance (light repairs, lighting, basic plumbing, fixture replacement, etc.).
- Coordinate external vendors for specialized building repairs, HVAC, electrical, and other trades.
- Ensure facility is safe, compliant, and operationally efficient.
Cross-Location Support
- Ability to travel locally between Plymouth manufacturing, the bakery, and corporate as needed.
- Provide support to bakery operations with troubleshooting or facility needs when workload allows.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM records, and vendor documentation.
- Support food safety, OSHA compliance, and plant audit readiness.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on maintenance, mechanical repair, or facilities management experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with mechanical systems; electrical/mechatronics exposure preferred (no certification required).
- Experience coordinating maintenance vendors and service providers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on production floors and facility spaces.
