Seasonal Streets & Parks Maintenance Worker

Seasonal Streets & Parks Maintenance Workers will perform numerous duties related to street, park, and building/grounds maintenance, as well as other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department.

• Provides excellent customer service to all members of our community, inclusive of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, ages, national or ethnic origins, languages, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, and political affiliations.
• The ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with city personnel and the public; maintains professional demeanor, tone, and conversations in all public areas of the city.
• Operates equipment including but not limited to commercial multi-deck lawn mowers, dump trucks, small tractors, utility vehicles, hand/mechanical tools and equipment, etc.
• Performs duties relating to street maintenance including but not limited to sign replacement and repair, placement of traffic control devices and pothole patching.
• Performs duties related to maintenance of buildings and grounds including but not limited to mowing, weed whipping, tree/shrub/flower maintenance, garbage pickup/removal, weed control and tree trimming.
• Performs facility maintenance/construction tasks including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, and mechanical as needed.
• Proper and safe use and maintenance of any assigned City vehicle and equipment. Observes and practice safe work habits. Attends and maintains all division training and safety requirements to be legal, safe, and compliant with laws and regulations.
• Effectively coordinates activities with other public services staff. Actively participates and promotes all activities, duties, meetings, training sessions, etc. as a team member.
• Assists City departments, divisions, and outside agencies as directed. Functions as a team member with all City employees and effectively interacts with all levels of City personnel.
• Represents the department in a professional manner.
• Follows and disseminates all orders and instructions of the Streets and Parks Supervisor and Streets and Parks Manager.
• Complies with all legal requirements of the job. Adheres to all City and street division policies and procedures and requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• The ability to perform light to heavy physical labor, lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Previous experience performing physical labor and operating equipment preferred.

Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. Punctuality and consistent attendance are expected. Position may require flexibility in future scheduling to include all hours at the employers’ discretion for appropriate coverage and efficiency.
